A stunning silver building rising from the red earth at Longreach airport, the Qantas Founders Outback Museum has been built adjacent to the historic 1922 Qantas hangar, which was restored as part of an $8.5 million project, of which $7 million was contributed by the Queensland Heritage Trails Network.

The new building houses the museum, theatrette and exhibition hall, visitor information centre and restaurant. Historic photographs, memorabilia and multi-media interactive displays eloquently tell the inspirational stories of overcoming the problems of long distance travel in Outback Australia.Places to see in Queensland
