On an area of 32 million sq. meters, and along the lovely Red Sea coast abounding in invaluable coral reefs, the Egyptian Company for Tourist Communities has launched implementing its gigantic project in Sahl Hasheesh, as complete tourist resort will be established along with its accessories, representing irreplaceable spot in terms of charm and beauty.
Within the framework of the national scheme to activate the Red Sea coast away from the already-established communities in both Hurghada and Safaga, Ministry of Tourism put forward its plan to develop Merse Alam and Sahl Hasheesh, the two areas located far south of the Red Sea.
So, came the decision to establish the Egyptian Company for Tourist Communities as a LE700 million capital joint venture, in which the National Bank of Egypt together with a number of investors in tourism field are taking part. The aspired-for project has been tailored to be implemented on three phases; first is decided to start running in tourist season of the year 2000. It will occupy an area of 6 million sq. meters, comprising some 3330 rooms and near 1910 housing units taking the shape of apartments and villas. The LE 1435-cost-first phase, however, will provide 8000 job opportunities, and the conceived tourist nights hit 2 million.
As for the second phase, it will be established in an area of 6 million sq.meters, as it will include 2190 rooms, 3517 housing units, creating 11500 job opportunities. The LE 1640-cost-second phase is expected to maintain good climate with the aim of attaining 2.5 million tourist nights.
As regards the third phase, it will harbor 360 rooms along with 4912 housing units. It was schemed to be built on an area of 20 million sq. meters, a new atmosphere that provides some 14800 job opportunities.
The first phase is underway, as it was penciled to comprise an array of hotels, in addition to a marine to harbor yachts… Three hundreds cabins are to be established along with three grand malls, diving centers and theaters.
As a part of the second phase, and in addition to the resorts, a cluster of villas and trade communities will be established, 22 per cent of which will be offered as tourist housing. Keeping abreast of the international competition, and going in line with fashion, distinguished designs were observed while mapping out prospected-decoration styles. Styles that flash back to Bedouin tang, Islamic architecture and a Roman-wise City in Alexandria.. Not to mention, a number of spas and resorts for serving therapeutical tourism purposes.
