Concerts, festivals, galleries and more abound in North Dakota.

Art, created by or simply appreciated by North Dakotans, can be experienced in many ways. Check out the North Dakota Council on the Arts for a good overview. Art Galleries
North Dakota has a vast network or local, regional and national artists. Many of their works are displayed at galleries throughout the state. Some of the larger galleries are listed below. North Dakota Museum of Art
Located on the University of North Dakota campus, the North Dakota Museum of Art displays contemporary art: paint, sculpture, photographs, mixed media by regional, national and international artists.
Plains Art Museum
Brilliantly renovated turn-of-the-last-century warehouse houses state-of-the-art fine arts showcase at the Plains Art Museum. International, national and regional artists’ exhibitions, music, lectures, family and other special events. Cafe Muse and museum store. Available for group tours, receptions and meetings.
Jamestown Fine Arts Center
The Jamestown Fine Arts Center was formed in 1964 by members of the Cultural Affairs Committee. It has been in its present location since 1980. It offers 28 weeks of residencies and host 11-12 exhibits a year of all varieties. Annual shows include area and local artists.
Cando Arts Center
The Cando Arts Center The Cando Arts Center hosts yearly performing musical arts for the high school and during the summer months, a children's musical along with adult plays and local talent performances. Also, this past year, 604 pieces of art were displayed and judged with 125 pieces taken to the Taube Museum of Art in Minot for state competition. The center hosts 8-9 art or fiber works per year. and offers workshops on various topics, oil paintings to T-shirt decorating.
Taube Museum of Art
The Taube Museum of Art has exhibits all year round with the Student Art Show an important event. After being judged at the Taube, it then tours the state. The Taube offers children and adult art classes, hosts Christmas and birthday parties and encourages school and organizational tours.
Northwest Art Center
The Northwest Art Center is best known for its diverse and wide-ranging exhibitions of contemporary and traditional art by local, regional, national and international artists. The center's galleries, the Library Gallery and Hartnett Hall Gallery, are located on the Minot State University campus. Northwest Art Center welcomes the public and charges no admission. The gallery offers tours to selected exhibitions arranged by special appointment. Participants discover works of art and consider their relevance to the world we live in. The center hosts at least 24 exhibits in a year. Regular exhibitions are: Americas 2000: All Media, Americas 2000: Works on Paper (both are juried art shows open to all artists), Best of Show solo exhibitions for the winners, a biennial faculty show, the annual juried student art show and senior student exhibitions.
Theaters
If you agree with Shakespeare, that “all the world’s a stage,” you’ll enjoy the theatrical offerings on stage at the Medora Musical, Trollwood Park, Sleepy Hollow Park, Frost Fire Mountain, LaMoure Summer Theatre and many more.
Medora Musical
This broadway-style musical show is staged in the spectacular Burning Hills Amphitheater, carved into a Badlands canyon on the edge of Medora. The surrounding hills resound with music and laughter at this fast paced, song-and-dance professional extravaganza.
Trollwood Park
Trollwood Performing Arts School presents performances June through August from a dazzling Broadway musical to original theater to shows for family audiences. Call for all show titles and dates. Each July TPAS presents its trademark Broadway musical in an open-air amphitheater. It’s the largest attended arts event of the region.
Empire Arts Center
Empire Arts Center is located in downtown Grand Forks. Renovated in 1998, the Empire is a circa 1919 movie house renovated into a multi-use theater and gallery facility. The Empire Arts Center hosts a variety of theater productions, perfoming arts, films and concerts.
Frost Fire Summer Theater
Located 7 miles west of Walhalla on County Road 55, this outdoor ampitheatre overlooking the Pembina Gorge features Broadway-style musical presentations. Food service availabe beginning at noon. Matinee at 2 p.m. and evening performance at 7 p.m.

Fargo Theatre
If your idea of theatre is more of the popcorn and Hollywood variety, don’t miss the historic
Fargo Theatre, which will take you back to the deco era. You might even catch a silent flick, with music provided by the Mighty Wurlitzer.
LaMoure County Summer Musical Theatre
Located in LaMoure County Memorial Park, the theater presents numerous musicals and plays June through August in a historic World War I-era auditorium.
