Nestled in the foothills of the majestic Sierra Nevada, Reno is Nevada’s third largest city and boasts a rich arts scene along with world-class outdoor activities throughout the year.
While you’ll love the 24-hour gaming excitement in Reno, you’ll also discover a city with cosmopolitan flair. Stroll through eclectic art districts, experience stunning examples of architecture—traditional and modern—on a cross-town tour, visit world-class museums, attend an opera at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, or dine in a street side café along the river.
Reno’s renowned Truckee River does more than just look great—it’s an experience in itself, offering a variety of water-borne adventures—all within city limits. The downtown whitewater park is built for kayaking, complete with a slalom course and 11 drop pools for practicing maneuvers. In addition to the whitewater park, Reno also has a beautifully maintained Riverwalk designed for maximum enjoyment of the Truckee. Along the walk are several cafés, a movie theater, shops, pubs, and a park—just in the downtown area.
Reno rests at a comfortable elevation of 4,400 feet and gets over 300 sunny days each year. Add in the 50-plus golf courses in the area, and you’ve got yourself plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy that sunshine. The Reno area receives about 12 inches of precipitation annually, and plenty of snow falls at the 15 easily accessible ski resorts in the Lake Tahoe area—just a 45-minute drive from the city.
