Dhorpatan is the only wildlife reserve in Nepal legalized for hunting. The   reserve adjoins Rukum, Myagdi and Baglung districts below the Dhaulagiri range   in West Nepal. Established in 1983, the reserve's objective is to allow sport   hunting and preserve a representative high-altitude ecosystem. It covers an area   of 1,325 sq. kilometers. This reserve was established in 1987.
The reserve   offers game animals for controlled hunting. 
  The vegetation of this region includes   alpine, sub-alpine and high-temperature vegetation. Plant species found here are   fir, pine and spruce. Wildlife includes the blue sheep, a prized trophy for   hunters. Other wildlife includes snow leopard, tahr, langur, ghoral, black bear,   barking deer, mouse hare and wild boar. The endangered animals in the reserve   include musk deer, wolf, red panda and birds like cheer pheasant and Danphe.   Birds include pheasants and partridges.
