March 17: Several vehicles have been damaged by a heavy hailstorm in Phuentsholing on Friday, March 14.
The hailstorm also shattered the window panes of several apartment buildings and broke a number of trees. It began at around 9pm and lasted only about 10 minutes but left behind a trail of destruction.
While there were no reports of casualties or injuries, the wind shield of several vehicles parked along the street were broken by the hailstorm.
Residents said the hailstones which shattered the window panes and fell inside their apartment would have weighed more than 100 grams. They told our reporter Kinzang Yeshey that a similar hailstorm struck Phuentsholing about a decade ago.
