Nusa Dua is a new luxurious resort area where the world's most sumptuous hotels gracefully integrate into the beautiful white beaches. Crystal clear water provides excellent snorkeling and diving site, and the waves on the northern and the southern part of Nusa Dua allow for great surfing opportunity.
Nusa Dua (two islands) derives its name from two small raised headlands connected to mainland Bali by sand spits. Some years ago, this area had a feasibility study carried out by the tourist arm of the Indonesian Government, followed by a well planned up-market resort being formed. There are 'big name' hotels here in a well cared for lush green setting. All have swimming pools, restaurants, sports facilities and all the international hotel mod cons. Most have private beaches, free of hawkers. But this area is a long way from Balinese village life. Nusa Dua was established as an well-planned resort zone which is built on a former coconut plantation in the 1980s, complete with its beautiful landscaped beaches and parks provide ample space for 15 five-star resort hotels, the 18-hole Bali Golf and Country Club and luxurious shopping facilities. The stretch past the Hilton Resort has been a public beach and during the wet season, the outer reef there is a popular surf break. With development of the zone strictly controlled to ensure the minimum of intrusions, Nusa Dua is a perfect destination for those who place a premium on privacy and sedate luxury.
The biggest attraction is the Galeria Shopping Centre with its many restaurants, fashion and handicraft stores, and supermarkets. Just take a stroll here in the cool warmth of the evening and you will encounter many cuisine's, for example Mexican, seafood as well traditional Indonesian dishes.
You will often find entertainment here ranging from traditional Balinese dancing through to a vocal quartet moving amongst the tables with their instruments. This is the place for that special candlelit romantic dinner.
