Ukraine, which in 2006 took 21% more of UK exports (goods & services) reaching £337.9 m and made increase by 38% in exports to UK reaching £128.6 m, is continuing its progress towards economic reforms and democracy. Although Ukraine remains a challenging country for exporters, due to complex legal, administrative and tax requirements, its government is nonetheless committed to reform, to accession to the World Trade Organisation, and eventually to joining the EU and NATO.

Ukraine was granted Market Economy Status by the European Union (as of 1 December 2005) and by the United States of America (as of 1 February 2006). FATF withdrew its enhanced monitoring regime from February 2006.
