Malawi is an African country. It is located to the south of the Equator between latitudes 9 degrees 45 minutes and 17 degrees 16 minutes, and from longitudes 33 degrees 35 minutes. Malawi is 900 Kilometers long. It's width varies between 80 Kilometers and 160 Kilometers. Malawi has a total area of 118, 484 square Kilometers. The total population of the country is about 12 million people. Malawi is bordered by Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia to the North North-East, East-South-West and West respectively.
Lake Malawi
Malawi is endowed with fresh-surface water. Malawi has one of the biggest lakes in Africa, Lake Malawi. Lake Malawi is a magnificent body of water. It stretches 568 Kilometers long and 16 Kilometers wide, accounting for 20 percent of Malawi's total surface area.
Malawi has a varied topography of mountains and rivers, which have a direct effect on the climate with temperatures averaging from 14.4 to 32 degrees Celsius. Malawi has largely two main seasons namely, cold-dry and hot-wet. The hot-wet season is from November to April.
